Tips on Downloading
* A quick note… these free Windows accessories do not require any installation program. They are individual, small files that simply need to be put in the appropriate location so Windows can find them. The best way to accomplish this is to download the files directly into their appropriate locations. Those locations are outlined in the installation Instructions. Unless you are familiar with this process, it is recommended that you read, print and have those instructions on hand before you begin the download process.
Issue:
Certain Internet Browsers (some versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator for example) do not bring up the usual "File Download" dialog box when you click on one of the available download hyperlinks. Instead, they bring up an "Open With" dialog box or go to a blank page.
Cause:
This is due to the fact that browsers are pre-programmed to to offer the "File Download" dialog box when a hyperlink points to certain file types other than Internet Pages. An example would be a Zip file or a program. As mentioned earlier the files we're offering are not installation programs and apparently are not in the list pre-programmed into certain Internet Browsers.
Work Around:
Here is a simple work around, that will not only work here, but will work for any site on the World Wide Web. Simply click on the hyperlink with the "right button" of your mouse instead of the left button, as you normally would. This will bring up a small menu (a list). Click on "Save Target As...". This will bring up the "Save As" dialog box or the "File Download" dialog box. Either one is fine and will allow you to "download" or "save" the file to the desired location. Again, read the installation Instructions if you don't already know where they go.
