LOCAL CREDIT UNION RAISES FUNDS TO SEND U.S. TROOPS PRE-PAID CALLING CARDS

(Burbank, CA) — Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) announced today that during the month of July it will raise money to send U.S. service men and women, as well as hospitalized veterans, pre-paid calling cards. To do so, LFCU has partnered with two organizations, Operation Uplink and Cell Phones For Soldiers, both of which help troops stay connected during deployment. LFCU members, employees, and the general public can donate cash or used cell phones to help raise funds for the cause.

"Many of our currently deployed service men and women have already, or will be, serving a year or more away from home," said Dave Styler, LFCU CEO. "They sacrifice so much for our country, that LFCU and our employees want to help our military personnel stay in touch with the people they love. We invite the community to join us in supporting this program as our way of saying thank you."

From July 1st through July 31st, LFCU will accept monetary donations, as well as set up collection sites for used cell phones at all nine LFCU branch locations. Donors can also specify individual service persons to receive the cards by filling out a form available at LFCU branches or on the LFCU website. General donations are dispersed to troops who otherwise would not have access to calling cards. Donated cell phones must be accompanied by a battery pack, and will be recycled through Cell Phones For Soldiers for cash used to purchase calling cards.

Further information on donations and a complete list of all LFCU locations can be found online at www.lockheedfcu.org. Donations (checks made payable to "Operation Uplink") can also be mailed to:
