BURBANK, CALIFORNIA, September 8, 2005 — Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) announced today that it raised $4,490 to send pre-paid calling cards to U.S. service men and women, as well as hospitalized veterans. Over the month of July, LFCU partnered with two organizations, Operation Uplink and Cell Phones For Soldiers, both of which help troops stay connected during deployment. LFCU collected $2,260 from members and the community and $2,230 from employees, which LFCU matched. In addition, the general public donated 200 used cell phones to help raise funds for the cause.
"Many of our currently deployed service men and women have already, or will be, serving a year or more away from home," said Dave Styler, LFCU CEO. "We thank the community for rallying behind this cause, and donating funds and cell phones to those helping protect our country."
