LOCKHEED FEDERAL CREDIT UNION ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER "STUDENT OF THE MONTH" WINNER (Burbank, CA), November 30, 2005 — Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) announced Valencia High School senior Amanda Whitaker as the November winner of its "Student of the Month" program today. Principal Paul Priesz, Ed.D, selected Whitaker for her outstanding academic and leadership achievements. "Amanda exemplifies the very best of Valencia High School," said Dr. Priesz. " She is a gifted and dedicated student who carries herself with a certain pride and professionalism that greatly models what we as educators strive to instill in our students." Whitaker academic performance is superior with a 4.04 GPA. Whitaker has applied for admission to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she plans to study Kinesiology in hopes of becoming a physician with a specialty in physical therapy. She currently is the Associated Student Body President and an active member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Key Club and school's cheer squad. She has also been a constant on the Homecoming Court since her tenth grade year. Whitaker is characterized by her peers as having a positive attitude and a tireless work ethic that ensures success. LFCU partnered with the William S. Hart School District earlier this year to launch the "Student of the Month" program. LFCU recognizes one high school student each month throughout the academic year. The winning high school student and school receive a cash award of $250 each. LFCU also launched a "Player of the Week" program within the district, which recognizes outstanding athletes during the football, basketball and baseball seasons.
