LFCU in the Community

At Lockheed Federal Credit Union, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we serve and operate. Whether it is through our community philanthropic efforts, community sponsorships or voluntary employee payroll contribution program, LFCU is committed to providing support to worthy causes.

LFCU Community Stars
Developed by LFCU employees in 2008, LFCU Community Stars was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to provide support to local charities selected by LFCU employees through volunteerism and financial donations. LFCU employees are able to volunteer during their normal work hours and can make contributions to the chosen charities through LFCU Community Stars' Charitable Contribution Program via payroll deduction. In this time, the foundation has raised more than $100,000 for local charities. Every year, LFCU Community Stars selects nonprofit organizations to support.

Volunteer Time Off Program
Established in 2008, LFCU's Volunteer Time Off Program allows employees to receive company paid time off to volunteer in the community. Each employee can volunteer during the work day a maximum of eight hours per year. Throughout the year, LFCU employees organize volunteer opportunities to support LFCU Community Stars' nonprofit partners. In 2009, LFCU supported these local charities through volunteer efforts: Penny Lane Centers, For The Troops, Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, and Burbank Temporary Aid Center.

During the holiday season, LFCU employees collected and wrapped more than 150 toys for Penny Lane Centers' foster children.

U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq received care packages in time for the holidays, as LFCU employees worked with local nonprofit organization For The Troops to assemble boxes November 18. The credit union, with employees and members, collected goods for care packages from October 26 to November 9 at the Simi Valley and Palmdale branches.

On July 21, LFCU employees took time to make a difference at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center. Employee volunteers helped give the inside of the senior center a new look with a renovation of one of the hallways with a local Girl Scout and the Giving Respect And Nurturing Deserving Seniors (GRANDS) program.

LFCU employees showed their support of Burbank Temporary Aid Center on May 11 and 12 with its food drive and volunteer contributions. The credit union donated more than 50 volunteer work hours to BTAC to help organize at least 30,000 food items.

Partner to Paint
LFCU employees traded in pens for paintbrushes on April 16 to give the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and the Greater East Valley a facelift. About 30 employee volunteers spent the day giving the facility a new exterior coat of paint with Partner to Paint, LFCU's annual community project.

LFCU continued its Volunteer Time Off Program with Partner to Paint, allowing employees to receive company paid time off to volunteer in the community.

Student of the Month
Each month, LFCU acknowledges an outstanding student in the William S. Hart School District. The student is selected based on overall performance - academic accomplishments, extra curricular activities, leadership, and other notable experiences, and receives a $250 scholarship.

Lee National Denim Day
Since 2002, LFCU employees have participated in this national fundraiser benefiting breast cancer prevention services. The program allows employees to wear denim to work in exchange for a $5 contribution. LFCU will participate in this event again October 8, 2010.

LFCU Named One of the Best Places to Work

Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) believes it's the little and the big things that are important in making a great place to work. Recognizing those efforts, LFCU was recently ranked No. 1 in the medium-sized company category of the "California's Best Places to Work" program for 2007. This first-ever best workplace program exclusively for California employers was sponsored by Employers Group.

LFCU named No. 1 credit union by SCV residents
For the third year in a row, LFCU was ranked the No. 1 credit union in Santa Clarita Valley for 2008. The readers of The Signal Newspaper voted LFCU as Santa Clarita's best.
